Description
St. Paul, MN - SOLIDARITY STREET GALLERY is pleased to announce the fifth edition of its annual, one-of-a-kind art exhibition and cultural celebration. For three days, on October 10 + 11 + 12, the historic Payne Avenue business district will be filled with inspiring art, live music and poetry as it turns into a vibrant street fair and lively community gathering. This year’s theme, ‘Migration and Memories,’ acknowledges and celebrates that we all came from somewhere. Over 60 visual artists, musicians, and poets representing the diversity of the local neighborhoods will share their personal migration stories and cultural memories - and will engage the community and visitors alike in uplifting conversations about their roots and heritage. The indoor gallery space at ArT @ 967 Payne will showcase the works of a select group of invited artists, many of significant renown. Meanwhile, artworks chosen through a public, juried call that was open to all artists, emerging or seasoned, will be on display in the storefronts of 25 local businesses and will transform the Avenue into a walkable street Gallery.” Active involvement of the local businesses, many BIPOC owned, is a hallmark feature of the celebration, as they not only invite artists to exhibit in their business but also offer festival specials and, at select locations, live music and poetry. As community members and visitors stroll up and down along Payne Avenue, one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in St. Paul, they’ll not only experience high quality art in a unique, public format accessible to all, but will become part of celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of Saint Paul's East Side and the stories that connect us all.
